The country has put great efforts into boosting its economy.  Spain is ahead of most of the other European countries and is currently continuing its growth.  On average, however, Barcelona is still three times cheaper than Paris or London.

The demand for rented properties continues to increase in Barcelona through students, business people and expatriates, so that yields on rentals are excellent.  Since January 2016, while the rental prices have gone up considerably, selling prices have not increased at the same rate.  The minimum length of a lease for a furnished apartment is 32 days, which is quite flexible and allows owners to quickly recoup the money from their initial investment.

Some districts, such as Sant Antoni, Raval and Poble Sec are changing daily.  They are very central, close to the sea and attract a lot of foreigners who come to study or work here.  Prices are still very attractive and rentals are high.
